This one is MUCH overdue, but here goes anyway ...
(The original date for this was 2017.09.11)
Sunday, drove my wife to work, and headed out to a spot I haven't been in a while. Got there about 10.00. Got out on to the rocks and set up my Yamaga and Twin Power, line is Sunline HG-PE 0.4, leader Tict 1.5 (7lb), on the end a 5.3g bullet sinker, green glass bead, Tict DF Hook M size and a Gulp Okiami glow colour 2".
Few casts out, not much action, but eventually I hooked onto this little fella here ...
After some casts but no response I decided to move down the road a bit and try another spot. On my way back, driving down the damn narrow road, I spotted a few lure fishers with a nice sized grouper. I had that spot on my mind already and so I thought might as well. Same set up, but with an Ecogear Bug Ant orange. A few casts and a few misses later, I finally hooked into something decent. It was a scorpion, after that I managed another one.
Some time passed with not much going on. Moved on again, hitting the docks this time. Got out the Gekka with Caldia 2000. Drop shot this time, size 7 hook with a 5.3g weight on the bottom. Managed to get a new species, quite small and unidentifiable, unfortunately I managed to unhook it and drop it back into the sea without taking a picture, now I'll never know. After this, I headed to the near by tackle shop and got some more Gulp, as I had ran out.
From the tackle shop I had one place in mind but on the way, a little spot caught my attention out the corner of my eye and I felt I needed to stop.
Back on the Yamaga, first cast out was some tugs on the line but no hook up. I was still using Tict M size DF hooks, with Gulp okiami glow. Eventually managed some puffers, annoying little buggers but quite the fighters. And after that it came, a fish a chuck. Only little ones, but still on the light gear quite some fun.
That's what I love about LRFing, even tiddlers are sport! After about an hour, hour-and-half a friend called me and said we should meet up at the bar down the road, I figured it was time to go. Was driving so a no go on a beer or two but I did have some very nice jerk chicken. I was happy both in fish and in stomach, but I got back home to this ...
